Rhinoplasty involves reshaping the nose to enhance its appearance and blend harmoniously with the facial structure. Breathing difficulties due to structural defects in the nose and septum can be corrected simultaneously.
Rhinoplasty is done under local or general anaesthesia, as a day-care procedure. Access is via incisions inside the nostrils and through the columella (the skin that separates the nostrils). Once the incisions are made, the skin is lifted away and the necessary changes in the bones, cartilages and soft tissue are made.
Early results are apparent by 3-4 weeks, as the swelling subsides. However, you need to realise that your 'new' nose may take up to six months to adjust to its final profile.
